Slay The Princess

Slay the Princess is an indie horror story game that is almost entirely in black and white. It’s a very beautiful and dark game that’s almost entirely in black and white.

I wanted to create something based off of the game, but I wanted to do it in a way that challenged myself. I patterned out over 50 dolls and fabricated them. I sewed, flipped, and stuffed each doll by hand and then hand stitched the hair into each doll.

I also wanted to play with different kinds of dolls so I purchased dolls from the dollar tree, removed the hair from the heads and spray painted all of them white. I used a heated up leatherworking needle to then pull the white yarn through the heads for the hair.

Another challenge I had to overcome was having multiple sets of arms. I made a cast of my arms with masking tape, reinforced it with pool noodles, and used mannequin hands for the hands. I used white sleeves to cover the arms and hand sewed them directly onto the dress. I attached clear fishing line to the gloves on the body suit and connected it to each set of hands so the extra hands moved when my hands did.

Hand sewing the hair into the dolls took quite a bit of time, but it was incredibly worthwhile.
